Sharjah: The 35th edition of Sharjah International Book Fair will witness participation by an impressive line-up of Indian writers, actors, chefs and entrepreneurs. The region’s most anticipated book fair and cultural event will take place from November 2 to 12 at Expo Centre Sharjah.

Among the celebrated names are Javed Akthar, a leading film script writer and lyricist, Nobel Peace laureate Kailash Satyarthi, authors Chetan Bhagat, Shashi Tharoor, Kanishk Tharoor, M.T. Vasudevan Nair and cinema personalities such as Mammootty, Shatrughan Sinha, Shilpa Shetty, and many others.

November 3: Lyricist Javed Akhtar will be discussing his work as will writers Benyamin and Musafer Ahamed.

Dr Lakshmi Nair will host a cookery show from 8.15pm to 9pm the same day.

November 4: Writer S. Gopalakrishnan will talk about ‘Indianness and Malayalee’.

Performance by maestros Ustad Rais Bale Khan and Ustad Hafiz Bale Khan will be held in the evening from 6pm to 8pm.

Kavyasandhya (poetry evening) to be held from 8pm to 8.30pm would be another feast for the lovers of Malayalam literature as it includes the well-liked talents Sreekumaran Thampi, Madhusoodanan Nair, K. Satchidanandan, P.N. Gopikrishnan and Njeralathu Harigovindan.

Chef Pradeep will showcase his culinary skills in a cookery show from 8pm to 9.30pm.

November 5: Chief evangelist and brand marketing at Google Gopi Kallayil will talk about his book ‘The Internet to the Inner-net’. Famous Malayalam film director, screenplay and author M.T. Vasudevan Nair and short story writer K.P. Ramanunni will interact with the audience from 6pm to 7.30pm.

Author and politician Shashi Tharoor and his son Kanishk Tharoor will discuss the latter’s recent book ‘Swimmer among the Stars’.

The international launch of author Chetan Bhgat’s ‘One Indian Girl’ is another highlight of the evening.

November 8: An interactive session with Nobel laureate Kailash Satyarthi will be the prime event, from 8.30pm to 10pm.

November 9: Bollywood actors Shatrughan Sinha and movie critic and columnist Bharathi S. Pradhan will discuss Sinha’s biography ‘Anything but Khamosh’.

November 10: Bollywood star Shilpa Shetty will interact with audience about her book ‘The Great Indian Diet: Busting the Big Fat Myth’.

November 11: Prominent Malayalam writer M. Mukundan will address the audience at 6pm-7pm and Malayalam cinema star Mammootty will attend an interactive session at 8pm.

Television presenter Maria Goretti will be hosting a cookery show from 8pm to 8.45pm.

November 12: Retired civil administrator and politician Alphons Kannanthanam will hold a talk from 8pm to 9.30pm.
