Sharjah: In five days, online bids will be closed for 100 Sharjah vehicle license plates.

Motorists willing to spend on the exclusive license plates are looking at prices of over Dh100,000, and the numbers are expected to rise as the auction dates draws nearer.

The most expensive on offer is plate number 66, for which the bidding amount is Dh380,000. The second highest is number 15, at Dh260,000, with the third plate 888 priced at Dh151,000.

Sharjah Police, in collaboration with Emirates Auction, on Monday announced the launch of its third online auction for distinguished number plates. The new auction comes following the major success of the previous two auctions.

The online auction, which runs until April 1, 2017, will feature many distinctive numbers apart from the two-digit plates mentioned above. There are nine three-digit plates: (120), (121) (200), (202), (221), (313), (660), (801), (888), and 44 four-digit plates, featuring unique combinations such as: (2222) and (5000), in addition to 45 five-digit plates.

Brigadier Saif Al Zari Al Shamsi, General Commander of Sharjah Police, said: “The new online auction addresses the needs of citizens and residents in the emirate and across the country to acquire distinctive car number plates. Following the great turnout and remarkable success of the previous two online auctions, [we want to] offer the best possible services in line with the latest technological advancements.”

Interested participants can take part in the online auction by registering through the Emirates Auction website: www.emiratesauction.com, or through downloading the Emirates Auction smart application from Apple Store or Google Play. Only then can they register for participation.

The first online auction in Sharjah was launched in October 2016, raising more than Dh11 million from 150 number plates.

The second online auction was launched last November and raised Dh16.4 million.
