Dubai: The Dubai Ladies Club has launched a free three-week training camp for women participating in the Dubai Women’s Triathlon on November 3.

The Dubai Ladies Club Triathlon Camp, which started on October 10, is held on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 5pm to 6pm. It is open to women of all ages and fitness abilities and is designed to boost confidence and fitness, and improve skill and technique.

The triathlon organised by the Women’s Sports Committee of Dubai Sports Council will be hosted at the Dubai Ladies Club. It will feature a combination of three disciplines — swimming, running and cycling — over a distance of 40km.

“There is an overwhelming amount of evidence for the positive role played by sports and physical activity in maintaining a healthy lifestyle and building a happy society,” said Lamia Abdul Aziz Khan, director of Dubai Ladies Club, vice-president of the Women’s Sports Committee and president of the Organising Committee of Dubai Women’s Triathlon.

Revenue generated by the triathlon will be donated to Al Jalila Foundation’s iMcan programme to help provide disabled women with prosthetic limbs.

“Our objectives from the launch of this first-ever Dubai Women’s Triathlon is to introduce a new segment of the community to the innumerable benefits of sports, and also to serve as a crucial platform to help discover and nurture future female triathletes, who may represent the country on an international level,” Khan added.

Held in collaboration with GroWings Coaching and Ana Gow Running Club, the camp will offer participants a comprehensive training plan that includes swimming, running and cycling.
