Abu Dhabi: Emirati volunteers will soon get a chance to welcome visitors to the UAE’s Pavilion at Expo 2017 in Astana, Kazakhstan, the National Media Council (NMC) announced in a statement on Wednesday.
The volunteers, who are enrolled with the Emirates Foundation for Youth Development’s Takatof volunteering programme, will work in two shifts and have a chance to learn about various cultures as part of this opportunity.
The NMC on Wednesday signed an MoU with the Foundation to formalise the agreement, and also to launch other strategic initiatives that support and encourage volunteer work.
“Taking part in the exhibition provides the young volunteers with an excellent opportunity to develop their skills and enrich their knowledge. This participation will serve as an ideal platform for promoting cultural exchanges between volunteers and the host country, allowing the volunteers to gain international experience while creating a knowledgeable generation of UAE ambassadors,” said Salem Al Amri, deputy director general at the NMC.
The NMC manages the media sector in the UAE, and has initiated the interior design and installation process for the UAE Pavilion at Expo 2017, which will from June 10 until September 11.
