Dubai: Awqaf and Minors Affairs Foundation (AMAF) has announced that it will sponsor the complete repair works of an Emirati family’s house in Al Warqaa, Dubai, which was damaged by a fire, killing a five-year-old child in April 2017.

The fire injured several other family members and destroyed about 70 per cent of the house, rendering it uninhabitable. News of the tragic event prompted AMAF, a strategic partner of the UAE’s Year of Giving, to support the family in its hour of need.

“We were saddened by the misfortune that befell the Emirati family and resulted in the loss of a young life and destroyed a large part of the family home,” said Tayeb Al Rais, Secretary General of AMAF.

He pointed out that in the spirit of social solidarity during Ramadan and in line with the UAE Year of Giving, AMAF decided to help the family and finance the complete repair of the fire-damaged house, valued at Dh380,000, from their piety and righteousness endowment fund.

Apart from caring for orphans and minors, AMAF also runs a host of humanitarian initiatives that cover sectors such as health care, Islamic affairs, education, and global relief.
