Thousands of guests will participate in counting down the seconds till midnight, before the fireworks kick in.

At 8pm, UAE time, the festivities will begin with the countdown and an intense one-minute fireworks show in sync with those in the Philippines.

At 9pm, they will herald the New Year in Thailand, at 10pm it will be in line with Bangladesh, at 10.30pm with India, at 11pm with Pakistan and 12am the UAE, with special seven minutes of the biggest fireworks of the season, and at 1am with Istanbul.

Cheb Khaled

To end 2017 and to usher in the New Year, international superstar Cheb Khaled will kick off the celebrations at Global Village with his concert on December 29.

He is the poster boy for the modern form of Algerian desert blues known as Rai. He’s been its most successful modern exponent and the first to find success on the international stage. His first big global hit, ‘Didi’, helped consolidate his reputation that was firmly cemented by ‘N’ssi N’ssi’, which mixed funk, rock, and an Egyptian orchestra. He then followed through with the album ‘Sahra’, whose first single ‘Aicha’, written for his daughter, gave Khaled a French number one hit.

DJ Nawaf

UAE national Nawaf, known as the “King of DJ”, will ring in the New Year for guests at Global Village with a special collection of his best international remixes to make it an unforgettable experience from 10pm until 1am. He has proven very popular with guests for the past three years and will complement the special performances on stage and with guest involvement, choreographed by the Global Village entertainment team.

Parade of the World

A special parade will take place on New Year’s Eve at Global Village with the participation of more than 300 performers from all pavilions as well as the entertainment team of Global Village. It will begin at 7.30pm and will move around the park to celebrate the night along with the guests.

Bader Anhawi, chief operating officer of Global Village, said: “Global Village has always been a unique family destination for the New Year celebrations.
