Sharjah: His Highness Dr Shaikh Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, on Sunday issued a law regarding civil services in the emirate.

Law No. 5 of 2015 amends some bylaws of Law No. 5 of 2001, stipulating that the basic salary of general cadres will be calculated as 75 per cent of the gross salary, except for employees of grade eight and below. As for medical cadres and medical technicians, their basic salary will be calculated as 100 per cent of the total salary. The second article of the law states that the total salary of a government employee must be a minimum of Dh11,000 a month after pension deductions, with the addition of child allowance and nature-of-work allowance for medical cadres.

The law stipulates that the minimum monthly salary of government employees in the emirate should be at least Dh11,000 prior to applying at the General Pensions and Social Security Authority.

The decree came into effect starting from February 1, 2015, and all relevant bodies must abide by its bylaws.
