Umm Al Quwain: The Traffic and Patrols Directorate at Umm Al Quwain Police launched a three-month safety campaign that targets schools and pupils.

The campaign titled ‘Their safety is our concern’ aims to promote road safety for pupils during the new academic year and to reduce the causes that lead to traffic accidents involving children.

Lieutenant Colonel Saaed Bin Aran, Director of the Traffic Department at Umm Al Quwain Police, said, “The campaign and the Ministry of Interior aim to involve all segments of society in order to strengthen the role of the schools, parents, educational bodies, administrations, and school bus drivers in the provision of traffic safety for students during the new academic year.”

He stressed the need to ensure safety by checking the condition of school buses and providing safety procedures.

He called upon schools and institutions that transport students not to overload the buses and to adhere to the permitted numbers allowed. The directorate also urged them to ensure that every student is seated on a separate seat. It also stressed intensifying traffic control and imposing fines on overloaded buses.

Lt Col Bin Aran indicated that the Umm Al Quwain Police have prepared a comprehensive plan to provide traffic safety for students during the new academic year. The new plan includes intensifying traffic patrols in congested areas near schools.

He also urged parents who drive their children to school to avoid parking randomly in front of the schools, as this causes traffic jams.
