Dubai: Dubai Traffic Police will be dispatching 80 patrols each day to secure and organise the UAE national day parades that will take place between November 28 and December 2.

Colonel Saif Muhair Al Mazroui, Director of Dubai Traffic Police, said that they will also be increasing patrols on all inner and outer roads throughout the national day celebration period to ensure the smooth flow of traffic.

“We will not go easy on anyone who creates chaos or commits any traffic violations during the celebrations. We will take immediate action, whether it is fining or impounding the vehicle,” he said.

Col Al Mazroui added that this is a time for celebration and fun, and people should not take it as an excuse to not follow the rules.

He added that there are a number of official National Day parades that require registration, and these are the only permitted parades.

“People who want to join those parades need to register with the organisers beforehand. Only registered vehicles will be allowed to take part in the parades. No other parades will be allowed to take place,” he said.

Excessive tinting or decoration that reduces visibility, honking, loud music, reckless driving, people hanging out of windows or coming out of the sunroof are all dangerous actions that are prohibited and punishable by law.

He said that motorists driving recklessly or causing disruptions and chaos, will be fined Dh2,000, given 12 black points and will have their vehicle impounded for 30 days.

People leaning out of windows and the sunroof will be fined Dh1,000, given 12 black points and the vehicle will be impounded for 30 days.

Also, people on foot who attempt to open the car doors of people’s cars during a parade will be stopped by members of the Criminal Investigation Department of Dubai Police.

Motorists that play loud music or honk excessively will be fined Dh500, given six black points and the car will be impounded for 30 days.

“We want people to abide by the rules so there are no injuries or deaths. Last year, a man died because he fell out of the car’s sun roof.” Col Al Mazroui added.

He added that unlicensed motorbikes will be seized on the spot.

People who wish to avoid traffic congestion should stay away from Jumeirah Beach Road, Al Mamzar area, Jumeirah Beach Residence, Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Boulevard, Al Warqa’a area, Al Khaleej Street and Al Riqqa street between November 28 and December 2, he said.

There will also be more mobile radars on outer roads.
