Dubai: The Roads and Transport Authority will make the much-anticipated new-look vehicle number plates available from Monday.

Strictly optional, the new number plates incorporating the new Dubai Brand can be applied for online. Motorists will receive the delivery at the collection centres. A set of the new plates will cost Dh420.

“The RTA is committed to the directives of His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to use new Dubai Brand and endorse it as a tool in marketing and promoting Dubai in order to show that the emirate acts in a single team spirit and speaks with one voice to citizens and visitors,” said Ahmad Hashem Behroozian, CEO of RTA’s Licensing Agency.

The number plates were first displayed at this year’s Gitex Technology Week.

“The Dubai Brand Vehicle Plate Numbers have an air of luxury as the Brand is embossed in an innovative manner using digital printing technology and can resist various climatic conditions. Moreover, its colours will showcase the beauty of both the plate and the vehicle in a prominent manner and break away from the existing conventional shape of the plate,” added Behroozian.

The new plates can be applied through various channels such as www.rta.ae, RTA call centre (8009090), and the smart app: Drivers & Vehicles on smart phones.

The plates can be received through customers service centres and service providers; namely Deira Customers Service Centre, Al Barsha Customers Service Centre, Al Mumayaz at Aswaq Al Mizhar, Al Mumayaz at Aswaq Al Barsha, Quick Technical Testing at Al Ghusais, and Wasel Vehicle Testing Centre at Al Jaddaf.

By the end of this year, RTA plans to replace the plates of taxis and buses with Dubai Brand plates, which will be in black colour.
