Dubai: A new bus route, F48, will be operational between Danube metro station and Dubai Investment Park from February as the Roads and Transport Authority revamps the city’s bus route network.

F48 will pass through Jebel Ali Industrial Area, Dubai Investment Park (1) and Green Community, before heading to Dunes Villa complex at the Dubai Investment Park (2).

The revamp will see several other routes realigned as part of RTA quarterly updates.

“We do constant studies and surveys and changes are made according to the needs of the costumers. The revisions reflect the suggestions of the community,” said Yusuf Al Ali, CEO of RTA’s Public Transport Agency.

Modifications have been made to route F46, which links Ibn Battuta Metro Station with Jebel Ali area and will now extend to the Dubai Investment Park (2), passing through the Dubai Investment Park (1) and the Green Community.

Route F53, which connects Danube Metro Station with Jebel area, will also be extended to serve the new workers villages (1, 2 and 3) at Dubai Industrial Area.

Changes have also been made to Route 24, running between Al Nahda 1 and the International City at Warsan, will also pass through Terminal 1 of the Dubai International Airport.

Al Ali added that changes are being made keeping in mind the implementation of the bus master plan, which is being implemented phase by phase.

He reiterated RTA’s commitment to broaden and upgrade the public bus network and make relentless efforts to ensure integration between various mass transit modes such as the metro and marine transit.

As many as 1,572 buses, including double decker and articulated, ply on 105 bus routes across the emirate, while around 25 feeder routes play an important role serving the metro passengers. Dozens of buses also connect with other emirates through 11 bus routes, carrying around 50,000 people daily.
