Abu Dhabi: General Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, on Wednesday received the family of martyr Tarek Al Shehi at Al Butain Palace.

Al Shehi was martyred in a terrorist attack in Bahrain in March.

Shaikh Mohammad stressed that UAE’s martyrs will remain alive in hearts and minds. Their memory will never be erased for their sacrifices will inspire generations and light their path with the values of integrity, will, loyalty towards their homeland, he said. Without these values, a nation’s pride is not achieved, he added.

Shaikh Mohammad presented Al Shehi’s son Mohammad the medal of bravery awarded to his father by President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

He told the martyr’s family that despite the great value of the medal which is usually given as an esteemed honour from the country to its outstanding sons, the fact remains that what the UAE holds in its heart is much greater and deeper.

Shaikh Mohammad inquired about the well-being of Al Shehi’s family that includes his sons, brothers and other relatives. “We are all sons of Zayed, we are all one family,” he told them.

Lieutenant General Shaikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior; Shaikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs and other shaikhs, senior officials and dignitaries were present.
