Abu Dhabi: A Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed City will be constructed in Fujairah at a cost of Dh1.4 billion, and will offer around 1,100 residential units.

The construction of the city, which spans an area of 2.2 square kilometres, was approved on Tuesday by the committee tasked with following up on the orders of President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

The project will include 300 five-room villas, 700 four-room villas, and 100 villas for widows and small families. The city will help alleviate the financial burdens of Emiratis, particularly those with low incomes.

The city, which will be constructed as per modern architecture and sustainability standards, will include all necessary utility services to meet the needs of citizens. The construction of the city is in line with the keenness of Shaikh Khalifa to ensure that development encompasses all areas of the UAE, which is being implemented under the close follow up of General Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.

The committee meeting was chaired by Ahmad Juma Al Za’abi, Deputy Minister of Presidential Affairs, who hailed the keenness of the UAE leadership and close follow up of Shaikh Mohammad to ensure a decent life for Emiratis, and harnessing all resources for their happiness and security. Al Za’abi stressed that the project is one of many being developed as per the directives of the UAE leadership for the benefit of citizens.

He added that the UAE leadership places housing at the forefront of its priorities to boost the standards of services rendered to Emiratis, because the leadership views citizens as the cornerstone for the nation’s progress in all walks of life.

The committee instructed all relevant bodies to begin carrying out all necessary planning procedures for the construction of the city.
