Dubai: XPRESS bagged its second major journalism award in less than three months when it won the Karpoor Chandra Kulish (KCK) International Award for Excellence (Merit) in Print Journalism in the Indian city of Jaipur on Friday evening.

XPRESS Deputy Editor Mazhar Farooqui received a medal and certificate from Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shiv Raj Singh Chauhan at the Patrika Summit for his investigative story I am an Idiot, Yet I am Hired which blew the lid off an elaborate recruitment racket in the UAE.

He also accepted medals and certificates on behalf of Ador Bustamante and Biplob Roy, who designed the page on which the story was featured.

Organised by the Rajasthan Patrika group of newspapers in memory of their late founder and editor Karpoor Chand Kulish, the KCK award is aimed at recognising the outstanding contributions of journalists and team spirit in the media.

On December 15, 2013, XPRESS also won the Best Investigative Report award at the inaugural Sharjah Government Communication Awards for another expose by Farooqui.

Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal, Rajasthan Governor Margaret Alva, Tata Motors vice-chairman Ravi Kant and acclaimed Bollywood director Rakeysh Om Prakash Mehra were among many others who attended the day-long event at Jaipur’s Lalit Hotel.
