Dubai: You’ve heard of bungee jumping, but now think of it in reverse.

World-renowned Base jumpers Chris Douggs McDougall and Jimmy Pouchert bring you the human catapult.

Dubai has once again come under the spotlight with this jaw-dropping footage of extreme sports, which show the daredevils as they are catapulted 300 feet in to the air.

With the gleaming buildings of Dubai Marina in the backdrop, viewers can watch how McDougall and Pouchert go from 0-200km/h in one second, as they take on over six Gs of acceleration.

By comparison, American astronauts are known to pull anywhere from four to six Gs during the first few minutes of lift off from earth when headed into space.

The video was posted online by Negative4Productions, who wrote that the stunt was coordinated with the help of Go Fast Energy and Skydive Dubai.

Once up in the air, the jumpers pull out their parachute just in time to land safely on the ground.

Viewers expressed their amazement and sheer fascination with the stunt. TranceAddictFoX said: “Nice work by the jumper(?) and everyone involved.  That looked like it went off perfectly!  Super rad,” with Samuel Preston saying: “Can you imagine if this was a ride at Alton Towers!”

In response to the many queries as to the stunt’s safety, organisers said: “There are many techniques these guys practiced to counter the intense G force.

“In addition, because of their horizontal position, the blood rushed to the back of their head instead of out their head (had they been positioned upright), hence lowering their chances of passing out.”
