Abu Dhabi: His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces on Monday met with more than 100 media professionals as part of the Young Arab Media leaders programme. They are participating in a three-day extensive media training course.

“I have been pleased to meet this impressive galaxy of bright Arab minds who we are expecting to play an influential role in shaping intellectual awareness for the benefit of our Arab communities,” Shaikh Mohammad said.

He wished them and all aspiring Arab youth success. The 100 bright young Arab minds came from 19 countries to engage in the media-training programme, organised by the Arab Youth Centre, to develop their professional capacity.

The Young Arab Media Leaders Programme seeks to generate a group of media professionals and influencers capable of building a positive, integrated media sector that is responsive to future challenges and transformation. Participants will engage in a series of training workshops, lectures, discussion circles and seminars in addition to field visits to a number of major media institutions.

Shamma Suhail Faris Al Mazroui, Minister of State for Youth, said,’’The programme is important as media plays a crucial role in shaping thoughts and attitudes of youth. The programme will provide talented youth with skills required to present a positive media image about them to the world

As studies showed that 64 per cent of social media users in the Arab World belong to a young population under 30 years, Al Mazroui noted the programme will train participants on the best methods to harness social media platforms to create accurate, informative and transparent media content about their life and attitudes.

The Arab Youth Centre was launched by Shaikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs in February during the World Government Summit 2017 with a vision to prepare Arab youth to create a global model for building nations and sustainable development.
