Abu Dhabi: The Board of Directors of the Journalists Association on Tuesday elected Mohammad Al Hammadi as chairman of the association in its first meeting held at its headquarters in Dubai.

Fadeela Al Ma’ini was appointed vice-chairman, Abdul Rahman Naqi secretary and Ali Al Hanoori treasurer.

The board of directors, which was elected early this month, has a two-year tenure. Members include Abdullah Rashid, Hessa Saif, Mohammad Saeed Al Tunaiji, Mustafa Al Zarouni and Amna Al Ketbi.

Al Hammadi stressed that the Association will work on the basis of Shaikh Zayed’s speech to the media: “Transfer the truth to the people”, under the leadership of President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and will strive to be partners in development.

Al Hammadi added that the approach of media professionals will be based on the guidance of the UAE leadership, and will strive for the highest accuracy and objectivity and impartiality in the publishing of news and information.

“We will work with the members of the association to keep up with the country’s comprehensive renaissance in all fields, and its humanitarian values and methodology in spreading good and tolerance,” Al Hammadi said.

He stressed that the Association will witness in the coming period action that keeps pace with current and future challenges of media work, leading to the achievement of media leadership, pointing out that all members are partners in achieving these ambitions.

Al Hammadi added that the press is playing a vital role in the development of the life of society in different sectors and sectors.

“This requires the Journalists Association to provide a media environment commensurate with the ambitions of the UAE in light of the growing role of the digital and social media platforms,” he said.
