Dubai: Three children were crowned winners of this year’s Kidz Starz competition.
Kidz Starz, the largest children’s talent competition in the UAE, took place in Dubai Festival City Mall last Saturday.
Cliff Daniel Hope, 15, and Priyansu Dey, 12, both landed in the top spots in the singing and dancing categories.
Meanwhile, Dilashan Dissanayake, 12, was declared the ‘Z Factor’ winner for playing the drums.
Winners received prizes worth Dh5,000 and electronics from PlugIns. They were also granted a full academic term at the Impact Music and Dance Centre. Giveaways were also distributed to all contestants and guests throughout the event.
A total of 30 children between the ages of 6-15 competed for a place in the grand finale. Only 18 finalists competed during the third and final phase of the event.
During the final stage of the show, people were on the edge of their seats blown away by the talent, said Brad Merchant, general manager, Dubai Festival City Mall.
Priti Malek and Brent Black, from Virgin Radio, attended the event as judges during the semi-finals.
“I am very honoured to have taken part in this year’s edition of Kidz Starz during which I witnessed so many gifted children with an amazing potential of becoming the stars of tomorrow,” said Kris Fade, Virgin Radio host.
