Dubai: Fans of Global Village can now beat the long queues and buy entry tickets on its website or mobile app.

After buying online, visitors can scan their e-ticket at the entry gates — a similar process to using an electronic boarding pass at an airport.

Entry tickets cost Dh15.

The move will offer “more flexibility and convenience to those planning to visit,” said Global Village chief Ahmad Bin Eisa.

The online ticket system has been implemented through Dubai Trade, a trade solutions platform, as part of the government’s goals towards making Dubai a ‘smart city.’

The popular open-air festival park is located on Exit 37 of Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Road, near Arabian Ranches. Visitors can buy a variety of products from 30 pavilions representing 75 countries, sample food from 150 outlets, go on rides at a theme park, and watch dozens of stunt and stage shows.

This year sees a Far East pavilion representing Indonesia, Japan, the Philippines, and South Korea.

There’s also an Eastern European pavilion representing Ukraine, Romania, and Serbia. A separate Algerian pavilion has also been added.

Global Village will be open from 4pm to midnight on weekdays, and will stay open until 1am on weekends. It will run until April 8.
