Dubai: A Dubai cabbie who won a one-carat diamond solitaire ring for the Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF)said he will not keep the ring to himself.

Prakasha. M, who has been working in Dubai as a taxi driver for four years, won the ring after buying gold from Kalyan Jewellers during this DSF. But he is reserving the prize for someone special.

“I have been married for less than a year and my wife is back in India,” the ecstatic cabbie said. “Our first wedding anniversary is coming up in February and I feel lucky to be able to send such a beautiful diamond solitaire to my wife.”

T. S. Kalyanaraman, Chairman and Managing Director of Kalyan Jewellers, said: “It is heartening to know that we have touched the lives of people like Prakasha. M and that their dreams have come closer to fulfilment.”

A total of 100kg of gold and 45 carats of diamonds worth over Dh15 million are being given away as raffle prizes during the 20th edition of DSF by the Dubai Gold and Jewellery Group.
