Dubai: Sunday may be the last day of the 19th Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF) but don’t worry if you haven’t won the Infiniti Mega Raffle yet. DSF organisers are feeling even more generous and will give away prizes worth up to Dh2 million to four lucky winners on Sunday.

Some 31 lucky winners have each driven home two Infiniti cars — QX60 and G25 — and a cash prize of Dh100,000 each for the past 31 days since the draw started on January 2. But at the closing of the event, Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE), an agency of the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) and organisers of DSF, said they will give away eight Infiniti cars and Dh400,000 to four ticket-holders on Sunday.

This year’s total value of prizes is Dh100 million, which includes luxury cars like Lamborghini, Bentley, BMW, Infiniti, and Nissan plus an apartment, 32kg of gold and cash.

DSF 2014 also introduced many “firsts” this year including being a more interactive and inclusive festival for all. DSF widened its reach this year to include many community malls and encourage shoppers there to shop and win Dh500,000 at the end of the season.

DSF also made winners out of ordinary shoppers with extraordinary fashion sense with the Fashion Squad. And to stress fashion’s importance in its list of activities this year, DSF also launched the debut of the Vertical Catwalk on Burj Khalifa where aerial performers, joined by 10 models, showcased more than 40 Spring/Summer collections.

As DSF draws to a close on Sunday, organisers are already eyeing a bigger and better DSF for its 20th edition next year. To further boost public-private partnership, the agency announced its newest addition to its long list of strategic partners, Meraas Holding.

DFRE said the 32-day shopping festival this year could not have been a success without the participation of its Strategic Partners – Emirates airline, AW Rostamani Group, Paris Gallery, Emaar Malls (The Dubai Mall), Majid Al Futtaim Properties, Dubai Duty Free, Enoc, Al Futtaim Group (Dubai Festival City Mall), BurJuman, Al Zarooni Group (Mercato), and Dubai Properties Group (JBR – The Walk) and Key Sponsors Emirates NBD, Visa International, and Jumbo Electronics.

“With Dubai’s new-found status as the Expo host city for 2020, DSF 2014 has been the most exciting yet. Emirates, as a DSF Strategic Partner, again offered the very best travel experience, both in the air and on the ground, in support of those visiting Dubai during this very popular period.” said, Shaikh Majid Al Mualla, Emirates’ Divisional Senior Vice-President, Commercial Operations, Centre (GCC, Middle East, Iran and West Asia).

Mohammad Abdul Rahim Al Fahim, CEO of the Paris Gallery Group of Companies, said: “ The DSF 2014 drew a crowd that’s unprecedented, and thanks to the dedicated and tireless efforts of DFRE, no effort will be spared this year in highlighting Dubai’s immense tourism and retail potential.”
