Abu Dhabi: With schools closed, children will be virtually ruling Yas Island with free rides and food for kids under the age of 11. This is all part of the ‘Kids Rule on Yas This Summer’ which kicked off last week and will run till September 1, according to a Yas Island official.

Yas Senior Vice-President of Destination Management, Karim Al Guanaini, said, “Kids Rule on Yas This Summer’ is a Ferrari-filled adventure for families on the sunny island. Different packages are available in the island’s hotels such as Viceroy, Crowne Plaza, Radisson Blu and Rotana. Pre-teens are also eligible for a free breakfast and rides at Ferrari and Yas Water World.

“Summer is a special time for kids and their families and Yas Island has turned it on for them this summer, ensuring there is something for everyone.” Guanaini said. The campaign hopes to draw guests from the region as well, he said.

To enable visitors beat the heat, Ferrari World is indoors, the Du forum is shaded and Yas Water World is filled with cool water, Al Guanaini said.

Everyone, including parents and their children, can look for the 250 golden keys hidden around the island and join in the treasure hunt. The gifts are totally valued at an estimated Dh10,000, with rewards announced every week at all venues. Finding a key will qualify participants for a grand prize, officials told Gulf News.

Shows will be hosted at the Du forum by popular singer Mohammad Abdo on July 18. This is in addition to performances by Sesame Street, Bader Salah’s Comedy Extravaganza and the Mythbusters.

Officials say volunteers, team members and colleagues will be available to assist families and their children throughout the diverse activities.

The summer campaign was launched last year on a smaller scale and organisers are expecting ‘Kids Rule on Yas This Summer’ to become an annual event, Al Guanaini said.
