Sharjah: Sharjah’s Department of Public Works (SDPW) has completed work on a 1,300-metre jogging track, a service building and an interlock walking track that is 3 metres wide at Al Hamriya beach at a cost of Dh4.5 million.

Engineer Ali Bin Shaheen Al Suwaidi, Chairman of SDPW, said that the projects falls within the department’s plans to meet the needs of municipal councils, besides providing improved facilities and public services.

Al Suwaidi said that such projects help keep abreast of the emirate’s development programmes and encourage residents to choose an active lifestyle.

He pointed out that a comprehensive study was undertaken by the department in order to glean how to best utilise the track around the beach. He added that the service building includes washrooms for men and women, showers, and also toilets for people with special needs.

Al Suwaidi added that the service building also houses a cafeteria.
