Dubai: Talk about a dog having its day, this one has one every day.
If a pet shop in Greens Community is to be believed, Asia, Lady Gaga’s favourite French bulldog, had her celebrity owner splurge over Dh1,000 in just about 30 minutes - on his food and bed - two days before the American pop star’s performance at the Meydan Race Course.
“He said thank goodness he found the shop because he got everything he wanted. But just before leaving he did mention that all this he bought was for Lady Gaga’s dog,” said Filipina Glenn Angeles, 33, of the man who walked into the shop to make the purchase. She then realised she had unknowingly billed a ‘star’ customer while manning the The Pet Shop counter at the time.

“I wasn’t there right then, but if I had known I would have definitely given some discount,” jokes Briton Emily Kaminski, 26, the shop’s general manager who even shared the bit of news on her petshop’s Facebook page.
According to her, the man, unidentified but believed to be part of the Poker Face star’s entourage, bought dog food and stuff worth Dh1,288. (See box)
“The amount of the dry venison (wild deer meat) he bought could easily feed a small dog for about a month,” she said of the 5kg bag of the imported premium quality ‘Ziwipeak’ air-dried food in venison flavour, worth Dh550.
The man bought a further nine cans of ‘wet can’ food in venison and fish flavour and another nine cans of the same in lamb flavour, for Dh16 each, she added.
“The 370 grams of canned gravy is good enough for a day’s food. So you can imagine the pet has an awful lot to choose from every time she eats,” said the woman from Oxfordshire.
The 28-year-old singer, songwriter and actress is in Dubai as part of her world tour, ArtRave: The ArtPop Ball. She said she will be in the emirate for four days on her first Middle East stop where she hopes to ‘experience the fashion, food and artistry’. You bet, Asia, her bull dog, will be experiencing no less!
