Abu Dhabi: Hundreds of Indian expatriates gathered at the Indian Embassy premises in Abu Dhabi to celebrate India’s 66th Republic Day on Monday morning.

T. P. Seetharam, Ambassador of India , hoisted the national flag,  which was followed by national anthem sung by students from various Indian schools. The  ambassador read out the address of the  President of India to the nation, delivered on the eve of the  Republic Day. 

Seetharam told Gulf News that he was delighted about the participation of Indian community members from all walks of life in the celebrations,  especially the workers from different sectors.  

Abdul Razak, 40, a driver,  said  the occasion enhanced his self respect as an Indian. "I am proud of the economic development of India."
