Abu Dhabi: The Abu Dhabi Public prosecution has referred two women to court on accusations of performing an unlicensed plastic surgery on an Arab woman and injecting her with a chemical substance.

The duo in jail, pending trial, are accused of causing multiple injuries to the victim, a statement issued by the public prosecution said on Saturday.

The public prosecution has warned the public not to approach any unlicensed individuals or institutions that offer medical services.

It is important that all medical procedures are conducted at licensed medical centres for the safety of the community. Approaching unqualified and unlicensed practitioners may cause injuries and even death.

In the Arab woman’s case, she had approached the accused women of Asian nationalities for two sessions of plastic surgery costing Dh14,000. The accused had injected some chemicals into the victim. After six months, the victim fell ill as the body part that underwent the surgery turned reddish. She had fever also. When doctors found that the injected chemical during the illegal plastic surgery had caused the illness, she approached the police.

The accused were caught when they agreed for a third session of surgery for the victim.

The accused claimed that they gave only one injection to the victim and they charged only Dh7,000.

The suspects are in custody and the case has been referred to the Misdemeanours Court.
