Dubai: Dubai Municipality (DM) on Monday said that rumours spreading online regarding the energy drink Red Bull and the apparent effect of the amino acid taurine on fertility are false and void of any truth.
The food security department at Dubai Municipality said that the rumours which are making the rounds on social networking sites are false and urged people not to believe such rumours about the contents of nutritional products being traded in the UAE.
The department pointed out that taurine is an amino acid that is naturally available in the body. Taurine primarily contributes to building muscles and also helps with regulating water and sodium levels in the blood. Taurine also acts as an antioxidant.
The municipality urged members of the public to clear their doubts about any such rumours through Dubai Municipality’s website or by calling 800900.
