Sharjah: The UAE Ministry of Health has announced the opening of its new Training and Development Centre in Sharjah.

The move falls in line with the country’s government creativity lab programme, an initiative aimed at adopting creative ideas and transforming them into innovative projects that contribute to advancing the progress of the country’s development.

Abdul Rahman Bin Mohammad Al Owais, Minister of Health, said that the opening of the new centre reflects the ministry’s efforts to keep up with the latest developments in health care and to train health-care professionals on best health-care practices and standards, which will greatly contribute towards the ministry’s move to raise its standards to excellence in service.

The minister added that the new training and development centre is part of the UAE National Agenda (UAE Vision 2021), providing world-class health-care services that conform to world-class standards that are rendered by highly trained health-care professionals.

Awad Al Katbi, Assistant Undersecretary for Support Services at the ministry, said the newly opened facility will cater to both the public and private sectors in providing quality learning and development to its entire workforce, and reveals an opportunity to develop an integrated and coordinated service to enable sharing of knowledge in the field of science and medicine.

The Training and Development Centre includes several organisational units: e-learning and knowledge management, technical training and development, administrative training and development, graduate and postgraduate studies, administrative and technical support and the office of quality assurance and performance.

The new centre will also host the office of the local Committee for Health Specialities. The committee is tasked with coordinating with the General Secretariat of the Arab Council for Health Specialities with regard to the registration of health professionals who are taking various Arab Board certification exams. The committee also facilitates Arab board exams for the country as well.
