Dubai: Gulf News employees were offered free medical tests and health awareness tips as part of an employee welfare programme organised by the company on Thursday.

AXA Medical Insurance, in collaboration with Prime Hospital, Exeter Bone and Joint, and Magrabi Optical, conducted the health awareness campaign.

Under the campaign, staff members were offered free health checkups, including Body Mass Index, blood glucose, blood pressure, bone density and optical screenings. They were also given tips by a general practitioner on healthy living and how to manage diabetes.

KC Nissar, personnel and administration manager, Al Nisr Publishing, said the employee welfare programme was held in line with Dubai’s strategy to keep its people healthy and happy.

“Health and happiness of our employees are of big priority for us. Such camps are beneficial for employees to detect basic health issues and take measures to keep them fit and fine.”

He said the company is planning to conduct similar camps once or twice a year.

Bone density screening was the most sought-after service at the camp. Rana Abihayla, marketing and business development director of Exeter Bone and Joint said it is essential that adults screen their bone density.

“The last thing we check is our bone. We forget that the skeleton is the base of our body and we need to keep our bones healthy,” she said.
