Dubai: The new members of the Board of Directors of the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) held their first meeting at the DHA headquarters on Sunday (May 24) to review all the accomplishments, projects and services provided by DHA to its patients. The meeting was convened by Humaid Mohammad Obaid Al Qutami, chairman of the board.

One of the topics discussed was Saada (meaning ‘happiness’ in Arabic) which is a comprehensive health insurance programme that will cover all UAE nationals in Dubai who currently do not have any health scheme managed by the government of Dubai.

This health insurance programme is in line with the directions of His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and aims to provide happiness to the people.

Al Qutami said that the board reviewed the law that established the DHA, its parameters and the responsibilities of every board member. The board also reviewed the hierarchy, programmes and projects currently under way.

The board listened to the executive directors of every sector and hospital of the DHA, and each one of them discussed the services provided by the hospitals and primary health-care centres and the challenges they faced in promoting the services of the DHA.

The board reviewed the DHA’s financial position and its current strategy specifically related to revenues and expenditures, executive and operational plans and the mechanisms of operation.

Al Qutami said that the board was briefed about the developments of the health insurance law, its mechanisms and stages of implementing the law, which will aid in setting up a state-of-the-art health system that provides financial sustainability and offers residents access to affordable health care and flexibility in terms of health services.
