Dubai: Hind Mohammad Rashid Bin Gadeer, a young Emirati girl, donated the total cost of food for all workers who visit the Dubai Dental Clinic during the first stage of the Oral Hygiene initiative for labourers.

Recently, a humanitarian initiative was launched by Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, to provide low-income workers necessary dental treatment and care in the emirate of Dubai.

During the first stage of the initiative, a target of 2,000 or more workers will be attended to before the end of this year.

Workers selected by the Permanent Committee of Labour Affairs will receive free dental screenings and subsequent treatment to enhance their oral hygiene.

Additionally, they will be offered dental kits, telephone cards and sanitary product kits by Dubai Municipality, du and Union Coop.

Saif Markhan Al Ketbi, Director-General of the Office of the Crown Prince of Dubai, said that the voluntary response from organisations and society demonstrate social responsibility towards the poor.

“Those interested to participate and support the initiative can directly contact Hamdan Bin Mohammad Dental College,” Al Ketbi said.

Hussain Nasser Lootah, Director-General of Dubai Municipality, clarified that the humanitarian initiative is a result of the vision of a benevolent leader concerned about the workers in Dubai.

“The initiative is also considered a strong step towards the dream of our leaders to make Dubai one of the happiest cities in the world,” Lootah said.

He added that the Dubai Municipality has already carried out screening for a number of its workers to ensure their dental health.

“We are also prepared to hand over the dental care kits for 2,000 workers who are being tested and treated in the first stage of the initiative,” Lootah said.

Similar to Hind’s donation, individuals and organisations can also support the initiative for greater success. The Hamdan Bin Mohammad College of Dental Medicine is located in Dubai Healthcare City where workers will be transported, with the help of ambulance car, for the necessary dental treatment.

Participation in the initiative from society is possible and the college can be contacted on 800-336825 or + 97144248777.
