Dubai: In its ongoing march to achieve excellence in health-care standards, the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) promoted and upgraded several doctors working across all specialities in DHA hospitals.

The doctors were upgraded and promoted to the level of specialist registrar after studying certain criteria which included at least 10 years of work experience at the DHA and high achievements.

Humaid Mohammad Obaid Al Qutami, chairman of the board of the DHA, said: “In every field, particularly in the medical field, human resources play a vital role in the growth and development of the sector. They are the backbone of the health sector and we are thankful to all our staff members for their dedication and commitment. Our aim is to provide a clear career pathway for our staff members and ensure employee satisfaction. At the DHA, we are keen to attract and retain our staff as well as provide them with various training opportunities to ensure they are up-to-date with the latest in the medical field.”

In order to promote higher qualifications and specialisations in the health sector, the DHA offers several training programmes, including the Dubai Residency Programme which is run by the medical education department of the DHA.

The Dubai Residency Programme is a structured postgraduate educational training programme for medical graduates who have completed their internship.

The DHA’s medical education department offers several specialities which can take four to six years to complete, and include family medicine, neurosurgery, emergency medicine, orthopaedic and trauma, internal medicine, obstetrics and gynaecology.
