Dubai: Extending humanitarian aid for the underprivileged, the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) has donated 25 cartons of medicines worth Dh1.25 million to Emirates Red Crescent.
Humaid Mohammad Obaid Al Qutami, chairman of the board of the DHA, recently received a delegation from the Emirates Red Crescent at the DHA headquarters.
Al Qatami praised the humanitarian efforts of the organisation and said: “We are pleased to continue our collaboration with Emirates Red Crescent by donating medicines to help those in need. Taking part in such humanitarian initiatives is in line with the vision of our leaders and in line with the DHA strategy. The medicines donated include diabetes drugs, antibiotics and other essential medicines needed for treating various medical conditions.”
He added that in January this year, DHA donated medicines worth Dh2 million to Emirates Red Crescent towards the ‘Show Compassion’ (Tarahamu) campaign.
Mohammad Abdullah Al Haj Al Zarouni, manager of Emirates Red Crescent thanked the DHA for its continuous support towards Emirates Red Crescent’s projects, particularly in the field of health care, medicines and medical equipment.
Al Zarouni, said: “These contributions have had a deep positive impact on relief efforts and external projects of the Emirates Red Crescent. Charitable activities are in line with the vision of His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai and we highly appreciate the DHA’s humanitarian initiatives in this field.”
The meeting was attended by high-level officials from both sides. From the DHA, the meeting was also attended by Dr Ali Sayed, Director of Pharmacy at the DHA, Ganem Lootah, Director of Marketing and Communications at the DHA and Salim Bin Lahej, Director of Moussadah (assistance) committee.
