Dubai: Over 3,000 health-care facility inspections were carried out during the first half of this year.
In its attempt at achieving the goal of excellence at health-care facilities in the emirate, the Dubai Health Authority’s (DHA) health regulation department carried out e-inspections in over 3,000 health-care facilities during the first half of this year using smart technology. The health regulation team issued penalties for 140 violations. Of these violations, 113 were administrative and the remaining 28 were technical in nature.
Providing details on the electronic inspection, Dr Layla Al Marzouqi, assistant director of the DHA health regulation department, said: “During the first half of 2014, the e-inspections team carried out 3,004 e-inspections across all private health facilities in Dubai. The inspections were carried out using Android tablets and health-care facilities were immediately notified of the outcome.”
Dr Layla said the use of technology for inspections is an efficient and effective method and is in line with the Authority’s smart health initiatives and added that of the 2,672 licensed health facilities in Dubai, 272 facilities were licensed this year.
The health facilities include hospitals, clinics, polyclinics, pharmacies, day-care centres and optical stores.
