Dubai: A decree to form a DHA medical council has been issued by Humaid Mohammad Obaid Al Qutami, Chairman of the Board of the Dubai Health Authority (DHA).

The council will aim at improving quality, efficiency and ensure continuity of health-care services. The council will also be chaired by Dr Shawqi Khoury, board member of the DHA. Individuals across the different medical specialities will join the DHA council to share their expertise.

The council will be responsible for executing health plans and policies approved by the DHA. It will also identify certain challenges faced and provide effective solutions for the same. Specialised work teams will be formed to prepare and approve medical policies and procedure that will be implemented across DHA hospitals and health-care centres.

The goal is to unify standards, procedures and policies across the health facilities. With the sole goal of enhancing quality and access to medical services and health-care centres, the DHA council will review the latest global trends. These trends in the health-care sector will be adopted by the DHA keeping in mind DHA principles to guarantee that they match standards.
