FAQ’s

Q: Many times I have seen that the parking slot for the disabled is occupied by a vehicle that does not have a permit for the disabled. As a mother of a boy with special needs, when I am faced with a situation like this, I don’t know who I should complain to.

RTA: For private parking areas such as malls and hotels, complaints and fines are dealt with by the police. As for public parking, that is dealt with by the RTA and you can call to file the complaint. In any case, you can contact the police for any problem since they have the full authority to take action regardless of the area. We will be taking this issue into consideration and will try to organise a meeting with Dubai Police in order to reach an agreement regarding the matter.

Q: If I have a parking permit for the disabled in Dubai, it doesn’t work in Sharjah and I get fined. The same applies for Sharjah residents who park in Dubai. Is there a way that this can be unified to make the parking permits valid in all emirates rather than in the emirate where it has been issued?

RTA: That is a valid suggestion and we will take it into consideration. All emirates will need to discuss the matter together in order to serve all people.

Q: Why isn’t the sticker for the vehicle for the disabled not enough to park in the designated area? Why should we apply for the permit?

RTA: We are urging people to get the permit because the sticker has been duplicated by people to misuse the disabled parking. In order for people to get the parking permit for the disabled, they must present the necessary documents in the Umm Ramoul area and the papers will take around three to five days to process. In the future, we look forward to offering a more efficient service where the parking permit is delivered to people’s doorstep.

Q: I have a child in a wheelchair and there are areas where the pavement does not have a ramp for wheelchairs. WHat will RTA do to address this matter?

RTA: There is a service that RTA is currently offering people for lowering pavements. The person needs to simply file a request for the location and RTA slopes the pavement for wheelchairs to be able to get on and off with ease.
