Dubai: It was a full house at the Isha Yoga class organised for Gulf News employees in the basement of the headquarters of the newspaper on the evening of Thursday. Al Nisr Publishing invited its employees for free of cost yoga sessions of two-hour duration each. While one concluded, the next one will be held on Sunday, from 5pm to 7pm.

Scores of employees who had called in to pre-register for the free class gathered with their yoga mats and stretch garments to indulge in the two-hour session of pure bliss that combined powerful breathing techniques and yoga poses to pull out stress and get into a state of complete bliss.

K.C. Nissar, Personnel and Administration Manager of Al Nisr Publishing, said: “The health and well-being of our employees is absolute priority, We have in the past organised health screening and physical training for our employees. This time we invited the Isha Yoga Foundation instructors to give free classes to our employees. Yoga exercises of any kind sync the mind with the body, relax the muscles and are important for good wealth.”

Nissar who completed the Inner Engineering course with Isha Yoga absolutely recommends yoga to all. “I have personally done the Inner Engineering course with Sadhguru at their Coimbatore facility. It was life changing. This yoga session will orient people towards finding techniques to reduce stress and increase efficiency.”

Lavkesh Grover, Human Resources Officer at Al Nisr Publishing, said: “I have been intermittent in my practising of a variety of physical training routines such as weightlifting, cycling, running and so on but soon realised the joy in these is short-lived. By practising yoga and attending this relaxing session, I think I have found the two Ps I was looking for in life — Pleasure and Peace.”

Grover explained what yoga exactly did for him. “Yoga is not confined to basic stretching exercises but it is much beyond that! Here I got an opportunity to learn Isha kriya, which is a form of meditation that is said to trigger a calming sense of peace to the mind.”

Shashank Sharma, another yoga enthusiast and senior legal counsel at Al Nisr Publishing participating in the yoga class, said: “I started practising yoga in 2015 and in these last two years, I have experienced a transformation within. I can say that Inner Engineering course at Isha Foundation has helped me attain a balanced state of body and mind. My relation with the food has also changed, now my diet is as per the requirement of the body and not as per the taste buds.”

While this was a general yoga class, it was connected to Sadhguru’s vision and for the 30 employees who participated in the first two-hour session on Thursday, it was truly a rewarding experience.
