Dubai: Over 22,000 emergency cases were attended to in casualty wards across Dubai during Ramadan, a Dubai Health Authority(DHA) official disclosed. The emergency departments of Rashid Hospital, Latifa Hospital, Hatta Hospital and Dubai Hospital received these cases during the first 20 days of Ramadan. All the emergency departments functioned round-the-clock all through the year.

The emergency cases included heart attacks, strokes, complications of diabetes, car accidents, burns, stomach issues, bronchitis, asthma, food poisoning, gynaecological emergencies and they were dealt with promptly in line with the triage system followed by the emergency departments, which ensure that the most urgent cases are seen on priority basis without lapse in time.

All emergency cases are seen immediately upon arrival and prioritised as per urgency in line with international standards. On an average, Rashid Hospital received 450 cases per day, Dubai Hospital received 450 per day, Latifa Hospital received a total of 3,295 cases during this period and Hatta Hospital received a total of 1,112 cases during this period.

Humaid Al Qutami, Chairman of the Board and Director General of DHA, extended his appreciation to all the medical staff across the hospitals who work tirelessly to save lives and take care of the health of the community members.

Al Qutami said that the hospitals follow international protocols and provide high-quality medical services, particularly emergency care which is vital to save lives.

Al Qutami highlighted that in line with the DHA’s strategic plan 2016-2021 and the support of its medical fraternity, it aims to further expand its services across geographical areas to ensure enhanced access to health care and timely care.
