Abu Dhabi: Yemeni President Abd Rabbo Mansour Hadi on Sunday visited Abu Dhabi’s Wahat Al Karama Memorial, which was built to commemorate the UAE martyrs and their sacrifices to defend their country and its achievements.

Shaikh Khalifa Bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, Director of the Martyrs’ Families’ Affairs Office of the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince, accompanied the Yemeni President during his visit to the memorial.

President Hadi inspected the guard of honour and laid a wreath at the martyrs’ memorial. He then toured various facilities of the memorial and wrote in the monument’s register at the end of the visit. “I was honoured to visit Wahat Al Karama and the memorial of the martyrs — some of them fell in Yemen. They sacrificed their lives for the sake of their country’s dignity and pride, We pray to Allah Almighty to rest their souls in eternal peace”, Hadi wrote in the register.

Wahat Al Karama Memorial was built in line with President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s vision and directives to commemorate those who sacrificed their lives while performing their national duty of raising the UAE flag high.

The site covers 46,000 square metres, and is symbolically located between the Shaikh Zayed Grand Mosque and the General Headquarters of the UAE Armed Forces.

As part of his official visit to the UAE, the Yemeni President and the accompanying delegation also visited Shaikh Zayed Grand Mosque.
