Dubai: The UAE Innovation Month is a national occasion to celebrate innovation and innovators, reflecting the leadership’s approach to encourage creativity as a work method and culture.

This was stated by Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council.

A weeklong Innovation Festival will be held across Dubai from Thursday as part of the Innovation Month.

Shaikh Hamdan urged members of society to participate in the UAE Innovation Month activities. He called on government bodies to attract creative minds and encourage them to come up with innovative ideas.

He added that public bodies should discover and develop promising talents of individuals, and support them so that they can design innovative solutions for future challenges.

He stressed that the UAE is moving forward with adopting an approach of excellence that is in line with President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan declaring 2015 as the Year of Innovation. He said that this initiative was built upon by His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, who transformed it into UAE Innovation Month, so that the UAE can always be a part of the continuous race of innovation and knowledge.

The General Secretariat of the Executive Council, in collaboration with government and private bodies, will organise an Innovation Festival, which will feature a number of Innovation Month’s events from Thursday to February 28.

The main event will be held at City Walk with the participation of Dubai’s government and private sectors, which would organise more than 90 events across Dubai, reflecting the various aspects of innovation and how to employ them to serve the main objective of making a positive difference in the life of society.

This year’s events focus on spreading the innovation culture through community- and student-oriented activities with the participation of various government and private sector bodies, which have developed a series of programmes targeting this segment. These participating entities include Dubai Police, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, the Roads and Transport Authority and Meraas Holding, as well as innovation partners represented by the Dubai Health Authority, Community Development Authority, General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs, Dubai Youth Council, Enoc, The Dubai Mall, among others.
