Abu Dhabi: Shaikha Lubna Al Qasimi, Minister of State for Tolerance, said that the UAE was, and still is, a cradle of peace, a symbol of harmony and a global role model of cultural and social harmony.

In a statement issued yesterday (Tuesday) to mark International Day of Peace, which is celebrated annually on September 21, Shaikha Lubna said that the late Shaikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan and the UAE’s founding fathers were keen on making values of peace a prominent humanitarian feature and a national philosophy, aimed at achieving prosperity and happiness for all mankind.

Shaikh Zayed’s approach, she added, was then followed by President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and the UAE people and government.

Shaikha Lubna said that the UAE has a vital role to play in international efforts to achieve world peace, and the consolidation of tolerance, dialogue and coexistence to achieve security, safety and stability for all peoples of the world.
