Dubai: From Abu Dhabi to Dubai, some of the UAE's iconic buildings lit up in colours of India's flag ahead of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to the country.

Dubai-based developer Emaar, owner of the 828-metre tower, confirmed to Gulf News that the Indian flag will be displayed every hour from 7.15pm to 11.15pm on Saturday.

The visual expression the long history of people-to-people interactions between the two nations over the centuries.

The light show is made possible by the massive amount of LED lights draped around the world's top skyscraper. 

The Indian flag display in LED on the tower also goes in tandem with similar expressions of welcome on other iconic buildings, including the Dubai Frame, the Abu Dhabi will coincide with Indian Prime Minister's visit.

The thousands are expected to gather under the cool winter skies to watch the light show.

Modi landed on in Abu Dhabi on Saturday evening.

On the eve of Modi's visit, the Adnoc bulding and Emirates Palace in the capital lit up in India's tri-colours.

Navdeep Singh Suri, Ambassador of India to the UAE, welcomed the gesture. "Such a nice gesture by our gracious hosts in Abu Dhabi," he wrote on Twitter.

In Dubai, the Burj Khalifa and Dubai Frame also lit up in the colours of the Indian flag ahead of Modi's visit, Suri said.
