Tokyo: Shaikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Foreign Minister, yesterday met Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida.

Shaikh Abdullah stressed the importance of strengthening bilateral relations, and the desire of the leaders of both countries to strengthen and diversify the avenues of bilateral cooperation.

He expressed his wish that Japan would enjoy more progress and prosperity.

The Japanese premier praised the environment for investment provided by the UAE which, he said, had attracted investment and had made the UAE a main business hub and destination for major international companies.

He noted that they used the UAE as a centre from which they launched their operations in other countries in the region.

Shinzo expressed his hope that the UAE would enjoy more success in different fields.

The two sides also reviewed existing ties of cooperation and friendship and ways to reinforce their efforts to develop joint economic and trade ties, as well as encourage investment, advanced industrial projects and other projects in areas of renewable energy and peaceful nuclear energy.

Shaikh Abdullah and Japanese Foreign Minister Kishida exchanged views on the progress of joint cooperation and ways to further develop them in the interests of the two countries. They also discussed bilateral relations and ways to enhance them. The two sides also exchanged views on the latest developments at regional and international levels, as well as a number of issues of mutual interest. Saeed Ali Yousuf Al Nowais, the UAE Ambassador to Japan, attended the meeting.
