Abu Dhabi: In recognition of the immense humanitarian efforts and initiatives across the world by His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, that have benefited millions of people, the Order of the Mother of the Nation was conferred on him.

Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid received the Order from His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, as part of the Shaikha Fatima Bint Mubarak Programme for Creativity and Social Excellence.

Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid was selected by the programme as the personality supporting community issues, in appreciation of his initiatives that aim to serve humanity and provide fundamentals for a dignified life through the Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives.

 

 

Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid received the honour during a ceremony at Emirates Palace to honour the winners of the Shaikha Fatima Bint Mubarak International Award for Arab Youth and Shaikha Fatima Bint Mubarak Family House Award (Usrat Al Dar), which fall under the umbrella of the Shaikha Fatima programme dedicated to recognising outstanding Arab personalities.

The ceremony was held under the patronage of Her Highness Shaikha Fatima Bint Mubarak, Chairperson of the General Women’s Union, Supreme Chairperson of the Family Development Foundation and Chairwoman of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood.

Present were Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince; Lieutenant-General Shaikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior; Shaikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs; and Shaikhs and senior officials.

Speaking on the occasion, Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid said: “I am pleased to have been awarded this Order, which bears important significance as an expression of the culture of giving that represents an extension of the authentic values laid down by the late Shaikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan.”

He said that the Mother of the Nation always sets an example and role model for her keen attention to humanitarian issues so that the UAE can remain an icon of happiness, and its name is synonymous with giving and development.

“A successful leader remains engaged with the issues of his nation and works to provide solutions that ensure that community members enjoy a dignified and happy life — priorities that were set by President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and closely followed by Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed,” added Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid.

The Vice-President underlined that the UAE government will never spare any effort to achieve the best quality of life for everyone who lives in the UAE, both citizens and expatriates, and will never hesitate to lend a helping hand to anyone in need in any place around the world.

“The UAE is adopting a clear approach that puts the interest and well-being of humans as a priority, following in the footsteps of the founder of the nation, Shaikh Zayed, who believed that humans are a genuine treasure of the nation and the pillars that ensure its progress and prosperity,” concluded Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid.

Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed congratulated Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid on the honour.

“Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid is an exceptional leader who still launches humanitarian and development projects and initiatives across the world that promoted the values of peace, solidarity, cooperation and compassion,” said Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed.

He pointed out that Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid’s giving initiatives reflect his firmly entrenched humanitarian values and principles, which shaped his leadership and intellectual personality that adheres to the humanitarian legacy of the founding fathers of the nation.

Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed said that the award reflects the vision of the Mother of the Nation and her aspirations to channel interest and creative thoughts towards enriching humanity with contributions that advance social values and strengthen the social fabric.

“Shaikha Fatima, the Mother of the Nation, has set the foundations for humanitarian and community work in the UAE, utilising it to serve humanity. She will remain a symbol of giving,” he added.

In her opening speech, Mariam Al Rumaithi, director-general of the Family Development Foundation, conveyed the greetings and congratulations of Shaikha Fatima to all the winners. She explained that the programme was launched in 2014 as the first local, regional and international programme that recognises exceptional community service efforts.

Al Rumaithi added that the award programme seeks to foster the development of skills and knowledge required to create a better future. She expressed the gratitude of the Board of Trustees of the Family Development Foundation and its committees to Shaikha Fatima for her support.
