Dubai: Saudi Arabia’s King Salman Bin Abdul Aziz on Monday toured a number of heritage areas in Dubai along with His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

Present during the tour were Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince, and Shaikh Maktoum Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai.

Shaikh Mohammad welcomed King Salman, and reaffirmed that the UAE and Saudi Arabia are unified by history and geography, and share the same fate. He pointed out that this close bond forms a solid base for strong bilateral relations between the two nations and their peoples, as well as joint efforts for achieving a better future for the region and its future generations.

Shaikh Mohammad said these bilateral relations were established by the founding fathers and those who preceded them, who had placed the building blocks for a Gulf culture that will forever remain a source of inspiration.

King Salman’s entourage passed through Shaikh Zayed Road earlier in the day on the way to the heritage area in Dubai where he acquainted himself with the emirate’s various modern features and its achievements in the past decades in different areas.

Shaikh Mohammad was the first to welcome King Salman upon his arrival at the Shaikh Saeed Al Maktoum House, which was built back in 1896 in Al Shindagha and served as the residence for the Al Maktoum family till 1958.

During the tour, King Salman viewed different photos that chronicle the old way of life in Dubai. He also reviewed a number of other artefacts in the House, such as rare historic and official documents that are exclusive to Dubai, and original copies of stamps, currencies and other historical items.

King Salman then visited the Saruq Al Hadid Archaeological Museum, and also toured a number of historical neighbourhoods.

Also present during the tour were Shaikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, Lieutenant General Shaikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Shaikh Ahmad Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of Dubai Civil Aviation and Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline and Group, among other.
