Dubai: Prayers poured in Sunday on Twitter for the speedy recovery of three UAE soldiers, including a ruling family member, who sustained injuries after a helicopter crash in Yemen.

The crash kllled four UAE soldiers.

Prominent Emirati figures and members of the public took to Twitter to express their heartfelt concern for the grandson of the late Shaikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan and the soldiers injured with him.

Shaikh Zayed Bin Hamdan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan and the two other soldiers, Rashid Al Dhahouri and Rashed Al Baloushi, are receiving medical treatment at a German hospital.

The chopper, which crash landed in the southern governorate of Shabwa, Yemen, last Wednesday after a technical failure, had resulted in the martyrdom of four other soldiers who were laid to rest on Saturday evening.

On Sunday morning, Dr Anwar Bin Mohammad Gargash, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, was the first to tweet for the speedy recovery of the soldiers.

“Praying this morning to God to protect and heal Shaikh Zayed Bin Hamdan Bin Zayed and his comrades,” Gargash wrote. “The sons of our nation are a great asset to our society.”

Renowned Emirati writer Sultan Al Ameemi posted a series of tweets about the injured soldiers using the hashtag Zayed_Bin_Hamdan, which was circulating by hundreds of users on Twitter, Emiratis and non-Emiratis.

“O Allah, heal our soldiers who were wounded in the field while performing their call of duty. God, protect them and give strength to the soldiers of the coalition forces. God, you hear and grant our prayers,” he said.

Al Ameemi also wrote that Shaikh Zayed’s wedding ceremony took place last April and was attended by His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces

He tweeted: “Last April, [Shaikh Zayed’s] wedding ceremony was attended by His Highness Shaikh Mohammed Bin Zayed and today we hear about his injury as he was answering the nation’s call.”

Shamma Bint Suhail Al Mazrui, Minister of State for Youth also paid tribute on Sunday. She wrote that the four martyrs are the country’s pride and those fighting for the UAE are a source of pride for everyone.

“We ask Allah to heal Shaikh Zayed Bin Hamdan and his comrades,” she said.
