Dubai: Achieving the well-being and happiness of our people is a top priority for the UAE government, said His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

“We accept nothing a better future for our people as we derive our development and sustainability from our ability to innovate and invent solutions that anticipate the challenges of the future, thus making UAE and its cities a centre for the world. We only accept number one,” Shaikh Mohammad said.

Shaikh Mohammad made these remarks on Sunday while meeting with members of the Dubai Executive council at Emirates Towers in the presence of Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council, and Shaikh Maktoum Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and First Deputy Chairman of Dubai Executive Council.

During the meeting, Shaikh Mohammad issued directives, setting up a Strategic Affairs Council to replace the sectoral committees and support the Executive Council in discharging its tasks. Shaikh Mohammad thanked members and chairpersons of sectoral committees for their efforts in performing their duties and their dedication to work and fulfilling achievements.

“We lack nothing and have all the necessary elements that make us best fit to challenge the impossible,” Shaikh Mohammad said.

“Maintaining the top position requires taking the initiative and well-thought-out risks as well as going overboard.”

“We are very proud of what we have achieved and we are still waiting for our governmental bodies and their staff to maintain our leadership. We should all continue the progress of giving and contribution, taking the country and the happiness of its citizens as a top priority, by which all government plans are mapped out. Therefore, I closely follow up the government work through periodic performance reports to ensure that Dubai vision aiming to be the best and happiest city in the world by 2021 is being brought to fruition,” Shaikh Mohammad said.

He stressed the importance of depending on young leaders, integration of the government work between different entities and launching innovative initiatives and projects with a positive outlook towards the future.

Shaikh Hamdan praised the efforts exerted by all entities, pointing out that the next stage requires more innovation and perseverance to strengthen the leadership of the UAE and Dubai at all levels. He stressed the importance of investing in youth and the utilising their potential and talents to build a better future and ensure a better quality of life, adding that government bodies do not work alone, but in harmony based on the participation of all.

“We must continue to work together as a single team to create new ways to deliver services and enhance our global competitiveness. We strive to make every government department the best around the world in each of their concerned field to achieve the directives and vision of Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid,” Shaikh Hamdan said.

Following up on Shaikh Mohammad directives, Shaikh Hamdan issued a resolution forming the Strategic Affairs Council under the chairmanship of Shaikh Maktoum Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and membership of Mohammad Ibrahim Al Shaibani, Director General of Dubai Ruler’s Court, Humaid Al Qutami, Chairman of the Board and Director General of the Dubai Health Authority (DHA), Major General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police and Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors, Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), Hussain Nasser Lootah, Director General of Dubai Municipality, Saeed Mohammad Al Tayer, Vice-Chairman of Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, Abdul Rahman Saleh Al Saleh, Director General of the Government of Dubai’s Department Of Finance, Sami Ahmad Dhaen Al Qamzi, Director General of the Department of Economic Development, and Abdullah Mohammad Al Basti, Secretary General of the Dubai Executive Council.
