Minister for State of Happiness Ohoud Khalfan Al Roumi has said happiness does not come from one side or department, and that her role is to make sure that the government entities’ plans are in line with the UAE’s happiness objective and they help reach that goal.

She said, happiness is about giving people life skills that will allow them to live their lives happily. She explained this by giving examples of how different sectors can contribute to a person’s happiness:

Happiness in the health sector
“It is not only about providing treatment to people who are sick. It is about providing them with information that helps them live a healthy life — how to eat healthy and how to exercise.”

Happiness in economy
“When we talk about the economy, the focus should not be about providing people with jobs only but [also] about the employees having a friendly work environment and a balance between work and their day-to-day life.”

Happiness in finance
“We should help the people of the UAE learn how to manage their finances in a right way, that’s what will make them lead a happy life financially.”

Customer happiness
“Measuring customer satisfaction is not just about providing them with a quick service, it is about providing them with a service in a way that makes them happy.”
