Dubai: Emirati housing is very important to us and is part of our social development efforts to provide a dignified life for all, said Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council.
Shaikh Hamdan made the statement on Monday during a visit to Dubai Municipality headquarters. Shaikh Maktoum Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, accompanied him.
Upon their arrival, they were received by Hussain Nasser Lootah, Director-General of Dubai Municipality.
Shaikh Hamdan instructed the municipality to work on preparing housing plans for Emiratis in a way that meets their expected requirements for the next 30 years. He ordered the municipality to coordinate with all relevant authorities to guarantee the success of the housing plan.
He added that the plan has to be completed within a month, paving the way for its actual implementation as soon as possible.
Shaikh Hamdan emphasised that ensuring a dignified life for Emiratis is at the forefront of priorities for His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. He said that this means providing suitable housing options that meet the requirements of citizens and ensures the stability of their families by foreseeing their future needs. He said that such efforts complement constant development efforts that aim to achieve happiness for all members of the society.
“I have instructed Dubai Municipality officials to quickly implement the vision of the wise UAE leadership to achieve the highest levels of satisfaction for Emiratis, particularly in matters pertaining to housing, and on a social level, to develop communities that are cohesive, diverse and sustainable to achieve happiness for Emiratis,” said Shaikh Hamdan.
Shaikh Hamdan also issued orders for redeveloping old neighbourhoods in Dubai in a way that suits the needs of its residents and as per the highest international planning standards, while taking into consideration the preservation of the unique setting of these neighbourhoods.
Shaikh Hamdan inspected a number of departments of the municipality, including the department of buildings, where he reviewed smart services provided to contractors and consultants that allow them to make video calls with the municipality’s engineers for the purpose of licensing projects.
He was also briefed on an initiative by the municipality’s environment, health and safety control department. The initiative uses a comprehensive system to register, manage and follow-up on consumable products using a database that ensures whether they conform to approved standards.
