Abu Dhabi: The Abu Dhabi’s Executive Council has issued a circular for all public bodies and companies ordering them to take the necessary procedures and regulations that ensure flexibility of employees’ working hours during bad weather.

The move aims to preserve the safety of employees and to avoid car accidents as far as possible.

The circular includes a number of guidelines that order public bodies to set interior regulations, restrictions and instructions that ensure the safety of their employees, maintain the progress of work and meet the requirement of occupational safety and health.

The circular called on the public sector to coordinate with the concerned authorities to be informed about any upcoming bad weather, which might require alerting employees. It also highlighted the importance of avoiding driving in case of bad weather.

Major General Mohammad Khalfan Al Rumaithi, head of the Security, Justice, Health and Safety Committee affiliated to the council, said that the safety of employees is a top priority, and the circular highlights the importance of human capital as it is the catalyst for any development. Consequently, the authorities are keen to ensure that employees reach and leave their jobs safely.

The coordination with the government bodies is in full swing to implement the circular immediately and activate the communication with employees to inform them about any inclement weather, Maj Gen Al Rumaithi said.
